The Believe Foundation aims to improve housing and living conditions at residential places and educational centers for socially vulnerable groups with disabilities.
Our goal is not only to improve and rehabilitate living spaces, but also to provide supported housing solutions for those with disabilities so they may live safely and comfortably.
The following Housing Support projects were implemented:
Refurbishment of the Poti Day Care Center for Children with Disabilities - Coalition for Social Reforms
The goal of the Day Care Center sub-program is to improve the quality of life for mentally, physically disabled children who are socially vulnerable. They help the children to rehabilitate, integrate into, and adapt to society. Currently the center has more than 40 direct beneficiaries, including the teachers and children with special needs.
The renovation of the Day Care Center included the purchasing of a full classroom furniture set, cosmetic repairing and painting of the walls (581 sq.m), assembling and installing of the internal doors, varnishing the floors, and placing of a new wheelchair ramp. The central heating system and fire-fighting equipment were also installed. In addition, various necessities such as carpets, vacuum cleaner, curtains, ceiling lights, mirrors, and computers were purchased.
Currently 28 children with disabilities benefit from the Day Care Center.
Rehabilitation Campaign for Poti Union of the Deaf (PUD)
The goal of the Poti Union of the Deaf (PUD) is to unite citizens with hearing loss, protect their rights, promote their social integration, education, and employment. PUD was struggling for several years due to poor conditions such as: lack of funding, and inadequate access to administrative resources.
The Believe Foundation has provided personal computers, a multifunctional printer, projector, projector screen, tables and chairs to PUD. We have also financed 2-years of internet access and various stationary items for the members of PUD.
The Housing campaign along with the financial support by Believe Foundation revived the PUD functions. For the first time in Poti, in 2014 the organisation started to deliver Sign Language Classes for deaf and hearing-impaired children and adults. This was followed by the Movie Weekends for the Deaf in 2017, when members were invited to socialising events to entertain and watch sign language movies. In total, 31 residents of Poti continue to benefit from Believe’s service to PUD.
Housing Support for socially vulnerable and disabled individuals
The aim of the campaign was to improve the housing conditions for socially vulnerable and disabled individuals and their families living in Poti.
As a result, 43 socially vulnerable families were supplied with new furniture, household goods, and appliances by the Believe Foundation. Moreover, up to six families living in desperate conditions had their properties renovated. Notably, there was implemented the replacement of their windows, floors, and roofs.
The Housing Campaign 2016 improved the housing conditions for up to 70 individuals living in extreme poverty. The beneficiaries of the campaign were chosen in collaboration with Poti Social Service.
